Green Acres Orchard's Cloves
Historically in 1800's, Penang has been hailed as producing the finest cloves in the world. Our farm is in fact located on prime clove-growing land in Balik Pulau, where the initial clove trees were planted then by the British East India Company. Our clove trees are between 30-50+ years old, making them as tall as 20-30 feet high.
At Green Acres, our annual dried clove harvest is only 10kgs. Harvesting which occurs once or twice a year in the months of November, December or January, is a laborious, menial and time consuming exercise where the matured clove buds are hand-picked from the trees before they bloom, separated from their stems, leaves and fluff by hand and sun-dried naturally.
Quality of cloves is quite consistent from year to year, with buds that are large and plump containing very high concentration of aromatic oils resulting in a distinctively stronger scent and flavour.
Uses:
- Cloves are used in the culinary world to lend flavour to meats, curries, masalas or marinades
- Added to tea infusions for aroma and flavour (masala tea)
- Used medicinally with its anti-bacterial properties, to alleviate toothaches or gum infection by chewing on them
- Natural antiseptic for inflammed throat or coughs
- Can be distilled to make essential oil to be used in aromatherapies
- Clove scent repels bugs and moths from putting holes on clothes and can be placed in closets, drawers or vehicles as a natural repellant
- The stems of the clove buds are traditionally used in Asia as an anti-bacterial herbal wash to help relieve skin rashes or inflammation

- Long life use - crush the cloves occassionally to release fresh oils for renewed aroma or scent.

Skin Relief Herbal Bath Mix
- A mix of our sun-dried whole cloves, clove stem and leaves, neem leaves, nutmeg mace, dried herbs for skin relief
- With anti-bacterial and antiseptic properties, used traditionally as a herbal remedy for the skin, to cleanse and relieve itches or skin rash.
Boil in water before use (add water to make it lukewarm for soaking) or steep in steaming hot bath - 120gm per pack
